I am really fortunate to have friends that accept my talk of my gifts. Back when I was barely exploring the inkling of it (before my Reiki attunements and everything) I was talking to my oldest friend and I very carefully mentioned it to her–so afraid to share the information. And she lit up! She told me about her grandma’s automatic writing and was completely open and encouraging about it. She is one of my biggest supporters

One of my college roommates, a Lutheran pastor, was very curious and skeptical about Reiki and what it does. She was grilling me on how it conflicts with my (read: her) faith and how to reconcile it. I kind of felt like I was being attacked about it. But last month, she actually asked me to send Reiki to her dog who was having surgery.

I realize that Reiki isn’t quite the same, but it’s definitely something different and, for me, relies on intuition and on forces outside myself.

I’ve “come out of the closest” so to speak with some work friends as well, completely by accident. That was a little tough. Sitting at a table with people that I consider VERY skeptical, when one of them mentions seeing me one day and asked me where I was coming from. It happened to be a class on automatic writing. *blush* So I nervously explained all that to them and went on to talk about Reiki and some other experiences I’ve had and how I was led to that class. Turns out the woman that was asking me about it, has had some very powerful psychic experiences as well… The skeptics at the table haven’t talked to me about anything like that, but they still talk to me about everything else,

I am thankful to have accepting friends in my life. I believe that they are sprinkled throughout my path. It’s up to me to have the courage to live authentically and open up to them. (another thing that I’m struggling with )

Hey Dereth! Great to hear from you. I hear the frustration in your voice. And you’ve just given me the topic for today’s blog, all about how much support means to us in our lives.
I’m so glad you brought this up. I’ll be interested to see what you and others think about how important support is not only to blossoming psychic abilities, but to healing ourselves and to evolving and awakening as humans.

I struggle with this all the time. You know that I still say psychic with air quotes whenever I talk about my abilities. For me it’s partially that I don’t feel confident in it. It’s not tangible, so it’s hard for me to believe that it happens. Plus, for me, there’s all the parental stigma to overcome as well. My dad blamed the failure of his business on “woo woo” business partners, and my mom is a conservative Christian. I’ve got this struggle between wanting to be myself and embracing my gifts, but also not wanting to disappoint my parents. AAARGH!

So true, Gail. I’ve found some “lover’s vows” that seemed to keep people stuck in relationships they didn’t want, or in a pattern of relationships they didn’t want. It was as if they keep searching for that long-lost lover, but don’t remember who it is.

These vows or promises can also include old-out-dated suicide pacts from other life times. It might happen with twins or lovers in a previous life who promised they would die together. Once these are cleared, some people have a sense of lightness or freedom to move on. Then sometimes clearing these vows allows for other old beliefs to bubble up to the surface to be cleared.

I’m so glad we are finally living in an age where we can clear these old crusty issues. Thanks for your comments!

Vows….a very interesting subject. What about vows we make to others? To love, honor …… I found that a vow I had made in a past life kept playing itself out over and over. Fortunately, I was able to see it and change that agreement in this lifetime.
